Narrative:
The Roman poet Ovid addressed the goddess of the moon as Titania, probably deriving it from her best-known name. Shakespeare used Ovid's invention to name the Queen of the Fairies in his 1596 comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream.
The name's connection to the fairies' moonlit world is obvious. Equally important, the sound of the name suggests the titanic dimensions of the character's temper and ravishing appeal.
